それは…
「でかいカブト」です！！
今月の出張イベントで使う予定ですが、早く完成したのでブログで先行公開いたします。
まずはシンプル版。
It's "Samurai Helmet" in full size!
I'll use it at an event in this month, but I'll show you in advance because I could make it earlier than expected.
First, simple one.
ツノや細部をアレンジしたのがこちら。
I deformed horns and some details.
とにかくスパイキーに仕上げたのがこちら。
And finished it extremely spikey.
ご覧のとおり、伝承のカブトと比べて豪華なつくりになっています。
サイドの吹返（ふきかえし）や前方の眉庇（まびさし）、全体の立体感など、一味も二味も違う造形です。
それでは、解説していきましょう！
As you can see, it's so gorgeous and far different compared to the traditional model.
Facesides, temple, and the whole three-dimensional effect.

折り紙のカブトは、世の中に様々なバリエーションが存在する人気の題材です。
本作を選ぶ決め手となったのは、ビジュアルはもちろんですが、一番は「安定感」でした。
意外にも、放っておくと折り目が開いて変形しちゃうモデルが結構多いんですよね。
Origami helmet is especially popular model and has a lot of variations all over the world.
The reason why I chose this model is not only appearance but also "Durability".
Actually There're many models which be unfolded(broken) over time.
この「飾り兜」の創作者は高木智さん。
適度なロック機構と「どっしり感」を兼ね備えた本作は私のお気に入りで、長年お世話になっています。
This model is designed by Satoshi Takagi, it has features that creases are locked and not be unfolded. In addition it has a sense of stability.
So it's my favorite for a long time.

なんと、39年前の代物です！！！
The textbook is...
Monthly ORIGAMI magazine No.105(May. 1984), surprisingly 39 years ago!
何が凄いって、バラ折り紙の至宝・佐藤ローズの考案者である佐藤直幹さんが、中学生時代に寄せた昆虫作品が載ってること。
To be noted, amazingly it lists some insects which were designed Mr. Naomiki Sato, the creator of "Sato rose", when he was in middle school!
その一つ「コガネムシ」は、私が子供の頃に折りまくった思い出の作品です。

One of them "Scarab beetle" is my memorable model that I make a lot in childhood.

素材は90cm×90cmのクラフト紙。
シモジマ製の20mロールです。
The material is 90cm×90cm craft paper, being cut from 90cm×20m roll
manufactured by Shimojima company.
「クラフト展」に持ち寄ったカマキリとクワガタに使ったのは50g/㎡ですが、それだと薄すぎてペラペラしちゃうので、やや厚い70g/㎡を選びました。

I've use 50g/㎡ thick in case of Mantis & Stag beetle, that I brought to the exhibition in Tokyo. But it's too thin to make simple works like today's one, so I adopted 70g/㎡.

今回はイベント向けに、オリジナル版から少々アレンジを加えています。
まず、ツノに立体感をもたせるため、折り目を「コ」の字にして浮かせました。
This time I deformed a little from the original one for the event.
First, to add three-dimensional effect to horns, I made an additional crease and made it floated.
そして、後ろ側の「錣（しころ）」は尖らせるのがオリジナルですが、置きやすいようフラットにしています。
Then I made the rear side flat to be displayed easily, while the original is pointed.
あとは、ご覧のとおりです。
あちこちイジリ過ぎて、だんだん収拾がつかなくなってきたところで切り上げました。
折れば折るほど楽しくなっちゃう。
長〜く楽しめる作品です！
After that, like this.
I processed every part too thoroughly to be disordered, so I stopped.
The more I make, the more fun. I can enjoy for a long time!

1984年、高木智さん創作の「飾り兜」をお届けしました。
同書は私が生まれる前から実家にあったもので、おそらく祖母が購読していたのでしょう。
次々と新しい作品が生まれる中、何十年経っても色褪せない作品があるのが折り紙の世界。
奥深いですね〜。

This textbook was in my parents' home before I was born. I think my grandma had subscribed.
While countless new model are created one after another, there are masterpieces that have unchanging charm even after decades.
How profound the Origami world is!
ちなみに祖母（86）はまだまだ健在。
編み物の先生だった事もあり、セーターや帽子、手袋などをよく編んでくれました。
最近は「アクリルたわし」を量産しています。
そのクオリティがもう、凄いんだわ…

By the way my grandma(86) is still doing well.
She was a knitting teacher, so often presented us sweaters, knit hats, and gloves.
Recently she's addicted to making "acrylic scrubbing brush", and their quality are incredible...
というわけで、そんな祖母に私も負けていられません。
折紙師範にもなったし、曲がりなりにも「折り紙の先生」として活動してるもんだから、頑張らなきゃですね。
さぁ、今週末は久しぶりのイベント。
一肌脱がせてもらいますよ〜！
Now I inspired by her.
I was certificated as a Origami Master and I hold seminars as an Origami Instructor, I must make effort.
This week I have an important event coming up, I'll do my best!
