横浜DeNAベイスターズ×折り紙ユニット「せせらぎ」／Yokohama DeNA BayStars × Unit origami "Seseragi"

職場の後輩が熱狂的なベイスターズファンということで、青・白・黄色のくす玉を差し上げました。

My colleague at workplace is an enthusiastic fan of Yokohama DeNA BayStars (Japanese baseball team), so I gave her Kusudama, which is blue, white, and yellow, simbol colors of the team.

モデルは布施知子さんの「せせらぎ」。
その名のとおり、元々は青・水色・緑の涼しげなカラーリングなのですが…
今回は黄色をアクセントに、エネルギッシュな雰囲気を出してみました。

That is "Seseragi (Murmuring)", designed by Tomoko Fuse.
As the name implies, originally this model has cool colors that is blue, light-blue, and green.
This time, I set yellow as an accent to express energetic mood.

白メインの青・黄色ライン。
青メインの白・黄色ライン。
どちらも同じ素材、青色＋黄色の教育折り紙を使っています。
裏面の白色のおかげで、3つの色が表現できるんですね。
配置を変えただけで、印象が大きく変わるのも面白いところです。
皆さんのお好みは、どちらでしょうか？

Both are made of the same material, single colored origami (Blue & Yellow).
They have white on the back side, so I could express tricolor.
It's interesting that the impression changes drastically when just changed the color combinations. Which one do you like!?

この作品は30枚組、1ユニットは2色の長方形(縦横比1:2)からできています。
つまり、必要枚数は60枚。
This model is made of 30 units, and one unit is made of two color types of rectangles (1:2 ratio). 
So it needs 60 sheets.

奥さん、60枚ですって。
あらやだ、大変な数だわ！
私にはできないわ！
60 sheets!!
OMG, how volume, ma'am!?
I can't!

と躊躇した奥様。
実はそうでもないんです。
Don't worry, ma'am.
Actually that's not so serious.

今回使ったのは、たったの4枚。
青色・黄色それぞれ2枚ずつ。意外と少ないですよね？
ちょっと小さくなりますが、この枚数ならチャレンジする意欲がわきます。

This time I prepared only 4 sheets, two each of blue and yellow.
It's surprisingly few isn't it?
Completed model will become quite small, but you may be motivated to challenge with this amount!

15cm×15cmを9カット、それを2等分した2.5cm×5cmを使うと、1枚から18個のパーツができます。
それを2枚ずつ用意すると、各36枚。
各6枚の「おつり」が出る計算です。

If you cut 15cm×15cm paper into nine and divide it into two, it becomes 2.5cm×5cm, you can get 18 sheets from one square paper.
And if you prepare two each, there'll be 36 sheets each.
This model needs 30 sheets each, so theoretically there'll be surplus of 6 sheets each.

完成サイズは直径約6cm。
昨年10月に投稿した「あさがお」と同じ大きさです。
コロコロしてかわいいですね。

やってみると意外とイケます。
ノリを頼りに、頑張ってみましょう！

余談ですが、実はこの作品、当初１つしか作る予定がなかったんですよね。
最初に作ったのは「白メイン」の方でした。

By the way, I originally intended to make only white one.

しかしどうも、ベイスターズっぽくない。
ストライクフリーダムガンダムみたいだ…

However, it became like GUNDAM, not BayStars...

不満を言われる事はないと思うけど、私が納得いかないので（←コレ大事）、急遽もう一つ「青メイン」を作り直すことに。

Maybe she won't complain about that, but I won't be satisfied (most important)! So I decided to make another blue one.

うん。
ようやく、ベイスターズ感が出てきました。
よかったよかった。
スターフォックスに見えなくもないが…
いや、歳がバレるのでやめよう。

Alright.
It became closer to BayStars.
It may seem to be StarFox... Opps, I'll stop talking not to publish my age!

青色をバックに並べてみたら、なかなか良い感じです。
よし、どっちもプレゼントしちゃおう！

I took photos against the blue background, it's good.

というわけで、超特急でこしらえた「ベイスターズせせらぎ」でございました。

That's why I introduced "Seseragi with BayStars".

同じパーツを黙々と作り続ける作業は、頭がクリアになって良いですね。
珍しく飲み過ぎた翌日のこと、二日酔い醒ましに最適なリハビリとなりました。
My head was purified while making lots of same parts silently, especially during a hangover.

単色はもちろん、絵柄モノとも相性が良いユニット折り紙。
組み合わせ次第で、無限のバリエーションを生み出すことができます。
今回のテキスト「はじめてでも組める くす玉おりがみ」の掲載作品は38種類。
3枚組・6枚組・12枚組・30枚組の合わせ方があるので、モデル数だけでも152通り！

Not only single colors, but also patterns are suitable for Origami units.
There're infinite variations depending on the combination.
Today's textbook written by Tomoko Fuse lists 38 models.
You can assemble with 3 or 6 or 12 or 30 units, so there're 152 variations!

色の組み合わせを考慮すると…
この一冊だけで、何日でも入院できそうですね（イヤです）。

The second post in 2022 is also Tiger!
This is "TABBY CAT" designed by SakuB.

ちょこんと自立する、かわいい虎猫ちゃん。
シンプルながら、縞模様もしっかりデザインされた本格派です。

A cute tabby sitting by itself.
It's simple but authentic design that striped patterns are incorporated.

ありがたい事に、全工程が公開されています。

All processes are published on YouTube by SakuB, the great designer.

動画の長さは14分12秒。
ゆっくりペースで丁寧に進めてくれるので安心です。
初心者の方は、終盤の立体的なシーンに苦戦されるかもしれませんが、よ〜く観察すれば大丈夫。ヒントはたくさん見つかります。
慣れた人なら、ノンストップで作れるでしょう。

It takes 4m12s, proceeds slowly & steadily, so you can play without worry.
Beginners may struggle with three-dimensional folding at the end, but you can if you observe closely. There're many tips.
Advanced players may do it non-stop.

ちなみにシッポの最後は、川崎ローズの「ねじり折り」を内部でやる感じ。
イメージしづらい場合は、全部いっぺんに折ってしまい、後から外側だけ開く方が分かりやすいかと思います。

At the end of tail process, it's like doing "Twist fold" (I don't know the official name in English) inside the body, found in Kawasaki Rose.
If you can't imagine, it's better to fold all layers and then open the surface.

使ったのは、クラサワの「両面単色おりがみ くろ／きいろ」。
トラを折るために存在してるんじゃないか、と言わんばかりのドンピシャな素材です。

I used "Double color Origami (Black & Yellow)" produced by Kurasawa company.
It's suitable material enough that I thought it exists only for tigers.

15cm×15cmで作ると、ちょうど手乗りサイズになります。かわいい。

It fits in your hand if you make with 15cm×15cm, CUTE!!!

きっかけは、定期講座のメンバーが「虎の題材」を探していたこと。
手軽に作れて愛らしい、さくＢさんの「とらねこ」が真っ先に浮かびました。
One day my origami class member wanted to make a tiger, that triggered me to make this.
I immediately came up with "TABBY CAT" designed by SakuB that is so lovely and moderately easy.

私も折ったことがあるから、過去記事が残っていたはず…
と思って２年前のブログを掘り起こしてみたら、記事内のリンクが切れてしまっていました。
I've played this once, so there should be an article somewhere...
I thought so and searched for my past post, but the link was broken.

これは残念だなぁ。
でも折りたいなぁ。
諦め切れなかったので、さくＢさんにダメ元でお問い合わせしたところ…
なんと、撮り直した動画を再アップしてくださいました！

本当に偶然なのですが…
こうした相談の最中に、とある福祉事業所から「トラのノベルティを作ってほしい」という御依頼をいただきました。
お正月に利用者さんへ配布したいとのことで、オーダーは３０個。
短期間で作るにしては、なかなかの数です。
By the way.
Exactly while having the above consultation, a certain welfare company requested me to make Tiger novelties for their clients.
The quantity is 30.
It's quite a lot, considering making in a short period of time.

え。
とらねこ、ピッタリじゃん。
Huh?
TABBY CAT must be suitable!

早速さくＢさんに連絡を…
と、思ったわけなんだけど。
なにしろ、あんなに手厚い個別対応をしてくださった直後のことです。
さくＢさんは作品の二次利用に対して寛容なスタンスを取られているのですが、さすがに厚かましい。
Let's contact SakuB right away.
However...
Now is just after the time that he has done a great job for us.
Even if he takes a tolerant stance about secondary use of his works, I hesitated because it may be an impudent act.

しかし、こんなに最適なモデル、なかなか見つかるものではありません。
思い切って、相談してみました。

I took a plunge and asked him.

で、その結果。
こちらについても、御快諾をいただきました。

意外と知られていませんが、折り紙の作品って、こういう権利関係に結構ナーバスなんですよね。
多くのプレイヤーは、創作者や出版社の利益を踏んづけないよう、最大限に気をつかって活動しています。
それゆえ、二次利用の承諾が取れない作品や、出所がグレーな作品などは、講習や配信に用いるのを遠慮することも。
（とはいえ萎縮し過ぎず、良識をもって楽しみたいものですね。）
Generally this isn't well known, recently Origami cluster is more nervous about copyrights, than most people think.
Many players work while taking the utmost care not to infringe the interests of the designert or publishers.
Therefore, I sometimes give up using models with no permission or unknown source, in my seminar or online activities.
(Although, you don't need to shrink excessively. Just enjoy origami with morals & courtesy.)

ですから、さくＢさんのような存在は大変貴重なんです。
気持ち良く作品を活用させていただき、本当にありがたく思います。
So, a person like him is invaluable.
I'm grateful to him for letting me use his model.

そして先日、約束の３０個がバッチリ完成。
無事に事業所様へお届けできました。

A few days later, the promised 30 tigers are completed and delivered to the orderer successfully.

受け取った代表の方は大喜び！！
多くの方に笑顔をお届けできると思うと、私も嬉しい気持ちでいっぱいです。

He overjoyed and I'm also happy to deliver smiles to his clients.

2022年第２弾。
さくＢさんの「とらねこ」でございました。

The second post in 2022 was "TABBY CAT" designed by SakuB.

特徴をとらえたシンプルな作品は、やっぱり折り紙らしくて良いですね。
リアルさを突き詰めること、抽象化して温もりを出すこと。
どちらも大切にしたい、折り紙の醍醐味です。
I like such a simple model that captures features and leaves Origami feeling.
Pursuing the reality or expressing warmth by abstracting, both are important charm of origami.

今年も色々な作品との出会いを楽しみにしています。
私が感じた喜びが多くの方に伝わり、折り紙の魅力を知ってもらえますように。
今後の投稿にも、ご期待くださいませ。

2022年元旦、神谷哲史さんの「トラ」で幕開け！／Tiger Designed by Satoshi Kamiya

あけましておめでとうございます。
2022年、アトリエまさにぃ「折り初め」です！
Happy new year.
Atelier masanii in 2022 has started!

初披露は、寅年にちなんで…
神谷哲史折り紙作品集３より「トラ」をお送りいたします。

Commemorating the zodiac, my first post is "Tiger" listed in "Origami works of Satoshi KAMIYA 3".

ヒダ状の構造をずらして裏面を出すことで、縞模様を再現。
顔の細部もリアルに作り込まれ、折り紙らしからぬ異彩を放っています。

Striped pattern is expressed by shifting the bellows structures and showing the back side of paper.
Face details are built amazingly real, so it is looks not origami.

威厳あふれる金色の虎と、静かな迫力をまとうホワイトタイガー。
あなたのお好みは、どちらでしょうか？

Gold tiger with majesty or white tiger with silent forcefulness, which one do you like?

用意したのは「玉虫紙」。
お茶の水おりがみ会館で買った、とっておきの素材です。

Today's material is "Tamamushi (Iridescent)" which I bought at Ochanomizu Origami Kaikan. (link above)

薄手の和紙に金や銀を塗り、さらに色を付けたゴージャスな逸品。写真では分かりづらいのが残念ですが、星空のようにキラキラ輝く様子に見惚れてしまいます。

Washi paper painted gold or silver and added colors. It's gorgeous!
Unfortunately you can't see its beauty enough in the photo, but it's like a starry sky and I'm fascinated.

色は「金／黒」「白／パール＆黒」。
サイズはカタログ上で約63cm×93cm、実際は65.5cm×99cmくらいでした。
手作りの名残なのか、紙の端に色ムラが見られたので、外周を5mmほどカット。
四辺がキレイになったら、正方形にカットして準備完了です！

The color is "Gold/Black" "White/Pearl&Black".
The size is about 63cm×93cm according to the catalog, actually about 65.5cm×99cm.
There are some color irregularities because it's probably handmade, so I cut each edge 5mm. After that I cut it into square, READY!

で、さっそく折り始めたいところですが…
こんな豪華な素材、失敗したら勿体ない。
しかも相手は工程数256の複雑系。いきなり手をつけるのは非常にハイリスクです。
ということで、セリアの53cmホイル紙で試作する事にしました。
「念には念を」ということで、金＋銀の２枚とも生け贄になってもらいましょう。

I want to start immediately, but it's awful if I failed and waste such a precious material.
In addition, today's model is complex that has 256 steps, so it's risky to go carelessly.
So I decided to try with 53cm foil paper.
Just in case, I spent both gold & silver, as sacrifices.

ふむふむ…
２２等分の網目をつくる以外、仕込みの工程は長くない。
トリッキーな折り方はないけれど、厚みがけっこう出る。
ホイル紙なら問題ないけど、玉虫紙はどうかな…

Hmm...
Preparation processes are not so difficult except 11 equal mesh creases.
There aren't so many complex scene, but thickness appears.
I can fold easily with foil paper, but I'm concerned when I work on Tamamushi.

本作の目玉である「縞模様」は、目印のない「ぐらい折り」が多く、きれいなシマシマを作るのに神経を使いました。

In this model's highlight "Stripe", we must fold without guide creases, so I got nervous to make them properly.

そして、工程194で恐怖の展開が。
「反対側も130-193と同じように折る」
その差、63工程。
そこそこ難しい作品ひとつ分じゃないか！
この区間は反対側に干渉するシーンが多いので、やむを得ないのですが….
あのシマシマをまた最初から繰り返すと思うと、心が折れそうになります。

In step194, I faced with a horrible situation.
"Repeat 130-193 on the other side"
The difference between them is 63, it corresponds to just another complex model!
It's unavoidable because in these processes most steps interfere with the opposite side.
Although, I feel heavy when I imagine making that stripe again...

そんなこんなで、あちこち苦戦しながらも、何とか完成。

Through those difficulties, I could complete the all steps.

玉虫紙の本番に備えて、色んなポーズを試してみました。
忍び寄る姿、低く構えて威嚇する姿。
顔は幅広、首はやや細く、手足はしっかり曲げて。

Then I tried various poses in case of Tamamushi.
Sneaking, menacing, make the face wider, neck is narrow, and bending legs...

猫背にしてみたらどうか…あっ背中が破れちゃった。
でもいいの、試作品だもの。
結局、最初に作ったシルバーの方は、無惨な姿に。
ごめんよ。キミの犠牲は無駄にしない。
本番は、きっと素晴らしい作品に仕上げてみせるよ…！

How about rounding the back...Oh, the back was torn!
It's fine. It's just a prototype.
After all, silver one became miserable.
I apologize, I won't waste your precious sacrifice!
I'm sure that I'll make Tamamushi superb!

ボキボキにいじくり回した試作品のおかけで、いくつか収穫がありました。
◯技術的にはイケる
◯折り筋は強めでＯＫ
◯工程130-193は、145あたりで反対側もやっちゃった方が左右が揃う
（左右が被るけど、何とかなる）
…などなど。

Thanks to the previous prototypes, I got some useful informations.
◯I can make it technically
◯Creases must be pressed firmly
◯In 130-193, both side will be alined when I work on the opposite side around 145
(It doesn't matter if papers interfere)
...etc.

これらの貴重な情報をもとに、満を持して玉虫紙を折り始めました。

Based on these result, I started folding Tamamushi with confidence.

塗料がまんべんなく馴染んだ和紙は、予想以上に厚いです。
そして、手にラメが付着します。
その手で顔を触るもんだから、顔にも付着します。
鏡を見ると、タカラジェンヌみたいなキラキラメイク。（写真はありません）

Washi painted evenly was unexpectedly thick.
And lamé adhered on my hands.
And I touched my face with laméd hand, so my face became like an stage actress. (I didn't take photos)

例のシマシマも問題なくクリア。
顔の細部もキッチリ作る事ができました。
２回の試作がなかったら、悲惨な事態になっていた事でしょう。

I could clear "Stripe" without any problems.
And I could make face details properly.
I would have fail if I hadn't make two prototypes.

さらに余裕ができたので、下アゴを改造して「犬歯」を折り出しました。このアレンジは個人的に大ヒットです！

I had more capacity as a result, I built "fangs" by remodeling jaw.
This modification was a great success for me!

あとは、大切な「整形」です。
白い方は、工程203あたりから「ウェットフォールディング」を導入。
紙を湿らせ、繊維をほぐしながら折ると、乾く頃には折り目が固定されます。

Next, important "Shaping".
For white one, I introduced "Wet folding".
Moisten paper and fold while softening fibers, creases will be fixed when they are dried.

裏面がにじんで黒っぽくなってしまいましたが…まぁ許容範囲ということで。
目や鼻は、色が変わる事でかえってリアルになりました。

Unexpectedly colors on the back side exuded to the surface, but it's acceptable.
On the contrary, eyes & ears turned black, they look real.

金色の方は、濡らすと色落ちするので断念。
その代わり、工程195あたりから全体を揉みほぐし、理想のポーズを意識しつつ、早めに整形を始めました。

For gold one, I didn't do that because the color comes off.
Instead, I started shaping in advance by kneading the entire layers from around step195, and imagining the ideal appearance.

最後はノリ入れ。
シマシマの内側から手足、顔の細部まで、浮いている箇所をピッタリ接着します。
じっくり観察しながら、数日かけて微調整を続け…
試作も含めて、約２週間。
金色の虎＆ホワイトタイガーの完成です！！

Finally, gluing.
I glued firmly inside stripe structure, legs, face details, and any other parts that tend to peel off.
Observing & adjusting carefully over a few days...
Spending two weeks including trials, "Gold tiger" & “White tiger" are completed!!

I'm happy to show you as a memorial to the zodiac.

この本を買った当初からずっと折りたかったけど「難しいだろうなぁ」「いい素材ないなぁ」と、なかなか踏み切れなかったモデル。
新しい素材との出会いに加え、自分のレベルアップも実感できて嬉しく思います。

I've always wanted to play this model since I bought the textbook, but I've hesitated to do "It'll be difficult" "I don't have suitable paper".
This time I'm pleased that I got wonderful materials and realized my skills have improved.

さて。
新しい年の幕開け、どんな事が待っているのでしょうか。
心配ごとが多い世の中ですが、前向きに考えて、穏やかに過ごしていきたいものです。

おまけ。

彩雲紙×青いバラ・第２弾「ローズ・ブーケ」／"Rose Bouquet" with Saiun Hydrangea

すっかり寒くなって、空気も澄んできましたね。
朝晩の冷え込みもかなりのものですから、風邪など召されませんよう。
It's completely cold, the air is clear and morning & night chills are so severe.
Take care of yourself not to catch a cold.

今日のモデルは「ローズ・ブーケ」。
月刊おりがみ543号(2020年11月号)、横山文恵さんの作品です。

Today's model is "Rose Bouquet" designed by Fumie YOKOYAMA listed in Monthly ORIGAMI magazine No.543(Nov.2020).

素材は、前回のバラと同じ「彩雲紙・あじさい」を使いました。
各パーツは6cm×6cm×30枚、完成後の直径は8.3cmくらいです。

The material is "Saiun (Hydrangea)" same as previous Blue rose.
Each unit is 6cm×6cm, 30 sheets.
The completed size is about 8.3cm in diameter. 

球形のシルエットに花が渦巻く、彫刻のようなデザイン。
そこに、水色基調のマーブルが融合し…
真冬の空を閉じ込めたような、清涼感あふれる作品に仕上がりました。

Sculptural design with petals swirl inside the spherical outline.
And light-blue marble pattern fuses there...
It became a masterpiece with coolness, like confining the night sky.

この作品はパーツ同士の繋がりが非常に強く、その頑丈さに驚かされます。
一度組んでしまえば、何年経っても崩れる気配がありません。

Each part is connected strongly, so this model has an amazing durability.
Once assembled, it doesn't collapse at all for years.

また、どんな絵柄とも相性が良く、折るたびに違った表情を楽しめるのも魅力です。

The blue rose above is made from "a certain material" which Yuzu gave me in the play.
And today's "Rose Bouquet" fulfills "further promise" that we make at the time of farewell.

彩雲紙の「青いバラ」に込めた想い。Spoon連続ボイスドラマ「ハコブネ」／Blue rose with our wish -Hakobune-

アトリエまさにぃへ、ようこそ。
Welcome to Atelier masanii.

今日の作品は「ニューモダンローズ」。
佐藤ローズの代名詞「ハイブリッドティーローズ」と並ぶ名作です。
鋭角の多いシルエットと、縦向きの花びらがつくる独特の陰影が気に入っています。

Today's model is "New modern rose".
It a masterpiece like "Hybrid tea rose", a representative of Sato rose.
I like its angular shape, and unique silhouette formed by slightly vertical petals.

出典は「１枚の紙から作る バラの折り紙」。
ニューモダンは同書の中で最も難しいバラの一つで、特に中心の仕上げが厄介ですが、それでも挑戦する価値は大いにあります。

Textbook is the first works by Naomiki Sato.
This rose is one of the most difficult model and especially the central structure is pretty complex, but it's worth challenging.

今回の素材は「彩雲紙・あじさい」。
便箋などに使われる厚手の紙で、コレが佐藤ローズと相性抜群なんですわ。
さらに「あじさい折り」とも相性抜群なんですわ。

The material is "Saiun (Hydrangea)" often used for letter paper.
It's outstandingly suitable for Sato roses, even Hydrangea.

今回のバラはですね。
とある企画のためにお作りしたものなんです。

This blue rose was made for a certain project.

このたび、ラジオアプリSpoonで配信された
連続ボイスドラマ『ハコブネ』
に出演させていただきました。

I appeared in serial voice drama "Hakobune", published on voice media "Spoon".

配役は「まさにぃ本人」。
偶然出会った主人公・ユズ少年に、折り紙のバラを贈るという設定です。
My role is "masanii myself".
He gives an origami rose to Yuzu, the main character, when they encountered by chance.

まず、劇中でプレゼントしたのが、黄色いハイブリッドティーローズ。
このバラを実際に折る音を収録し、そのまま効果音として使っていただきました。

I recorded the sound of making this model, and it was adopted as sound effects.

九尾の狐・ホイル折り紙で重厚感たっぷり／Nine-Tailed Fox with foil paper

アトリエまさにぃへ、ようこそ。
Welcome to Atelier masanii.

前回ご紹介した「九尾の狐」を、金ホイル紙で折り直しました！
九尾をうねらせて存在感を出し、煌びやかな姿に対して暗めの背景をセット。
より厳かで、重厚な雰囲気が漂うよう演出しました。

I remade "Nine-Tailed Fox (Chinese Fox Spirit)" that I introduced in the previous post!
I made a strong presence by wriggling each tail, then I set dark background against the glittering body.
I  arranged it to look majestic & heavy.

素材はセリアの53cmホイル。
薄さも申し分なく、これだけ曲げても紙が戻らない自由度の高さはホイル紙ならでは。
しかも、今回はノリを一切使っていません。
折り目の消耗が早く、穴が空きやすいのが難点ですが、それを差し置いても魅力的な素材です。
入手しやすいのも、大事なポイントですね。

The material is 53cm foil paper sold at Seria store.
It's impeccably thin & easy to bend freely, unique feature of this material.
And more, this case I didn't use any glue.
The creases tend to exhaust early and tear, but its attractive material even with these disadvantage.
And it's important point that we can get it easily.

紙の厚さや、整形の難しさに苦戦した前回。
「ホイル紙で折ったらいいかも」という期待を実現できて良かったです。

Last time I struggled against the thickness of paper and difficulty of shaping.
So I was happy to realize my expectation to fold this model with foil paper, as I wrote in the previous article.

さて、このキツネくん。
実は当初、銀色で作るつもりでした。
By the way.
This fox should have been silver.

でもですねぇ….
一度、失敗しちゃったんです。
However...I failed once.

工程81あたりから、他のことに気を取られて作業を中断した際、現在地を見失ってしまったんですよね。
発覚したのは、工程123付近。カドを組み替える枚数を間違えて、左右非対称になっていました。
色々リカバリーを試みましたが、もう手遅れ。

Since around step81, I was distracted by other things and interrupted my work, then I lost the current step.
I noticed that in around step123, it became asymmetric because I ran the wrong process.
I did my best to recover but It was too late.

同じ角度の沈め折りを繰り返す、つまり「似たシーン」が多い本作ならではの失敗です。
前回は難なくクリアできたのに…
自分の慢心が招いた結果に納得がいかず、しばらく呆然としてしまいました。
ほんともう、油断って怖いですね！
This mistake is unique to this model that repeats lots of similar "open sink" at the same angle.
Last time I could complete without any  problems...
I was stunned by the result of my overconfidence.
I have learned the risk of carelessness!

前述の情けない失敗をバネに再挑戦した、今回の金ホイル。
さすがに今度こそは慎重に工程を進めて、スムーズに完成させることができました。
あぁ、良かった…

By making carefully, I could complete this fox with gold foil paper smoothly, based on the above-mentioned failure.
I was relieved!

前回、華奢すぎて捻挫ばかりしていた後脚は、タテ方向に曲げて筒状にすることで強度を確保。
胴体は開きすぎないよう、背中から腹側にかけて緩やかにカーブさせました。
こうした仕上げを難なくできるのは、やはりホイル紙の恩恵です。
Last time he became so skinny that he's often sprained, so this time I bent all legs vertically and make them cylindrical to maintain durability.
It's a unique benefit of foil paper that such operations can be performed.

いじり過ぎて表面にシワができてしまいましたが、全体的な仕上がりには満足です。
銀色のキツネを作るつもりが金色になってしまいましたが…
かっこいいので、結果オーライということで＼(^o^)／

The surface wrinkled because I adjusted the shape too much, but overall I'm satisfied.
It unexpectedly became gold, though I want it to be silver. However, it's cool, it's Okey!

ラッピング和紙の柔らかな質感も好きですが、ホイル紙の硬派な輝きも魅力的です。

今日ご紹介するのは「九尾の狐」。
考案者は川畑文昭さん、折紙探偵団マガジン187号の掲載作品です。

Today I'll introduce "Nine-Tailed Fox (Chinese Fox Spirit)".
designed by Fumiaki Kawahata, listed in "Origami Tanteidan Magazine vol.187".

厳かで神秘的なムードが漂うよう、グレーと白を背景に撮影しました。

I took photos against the background of gray & white, so that it look solemn & mysterious.

九尾の狐は、中国に古来から伝わる霊獣。
人を惑わし、または邪気を退けるともいわれ、日本やベトナム、朝鮮半島にも様々な逸話が残されています。

Recently it's featured in Korean drama.

こういう幻獣や神話と歴史を絡めた話は、多様なストーリーがあって面白いですよね。
どんどん引き込まれそうになりますが、話題が逸脱したまま帰って来れなくなってしまうので、思いを馳せるのはまたの機会にしましょうか。
In this way, stories that spirit related to mythology & human history, are interesting because they have various episodes.
I'm almost absorbed in such stories, but I'll talk about them at another occasion someday, so that the today's topic may not go off.

星座の話なんかも、面白いんだよなぁ…
いや、いかんいかん。
折り紙の話に戻りましょう。

Oops, let's return to Origami topic.

素材は、いただき物のラッピング和紙。
金や銀の模様がさりげなく入った、とても品の良い絵柄です。
サイズは53cm×78.8cmだったので、正方形（53cm×53cm）にカットしました。

I used a material is Washi, the Japanese paper which my friend send me before.
This is very elegant pattern that gold & silver are encrusted.
It was 53cm×78.8cm, so I cut into 53cm×53cm square.

工程数は200ジャスト。
その大半は、９本のシッポや手足など、カドを生み出す作業に費やされます。
「200」と聞くとビビりますが、繰り返しの動作が多いので、いわゆる複雑系の「えげつなさ」はあまり感じませんでした。
（でも、それなりに高難度かと思います）

Total step is 200.
Most of them are spent on making tips that become 9 tails or legs.
You may be worried about its process length, but there aren't many difficult point that found in most complex models.
(However it's still difficult.)

全体的にスムーズに作れたのですが、苦労したポイントが３つあります。
Overall I could make it well, but it was difficult in three points.

まず、厚み。
大きめの和紙で余裕をもって挑んだつもりでしたが、それでも終盤はかなりの厚みになったので、力を使ってゴリゴリ折っていく必要がありました。

First, thickness.
Although I started with a relatively large paper, it became quie thick, so I had to use my grip strength.

それから、仕上げ。
紙の重なりが浮いてバサバサしてしまうので、入念にノリ入れをしました。
手足、顔、胴体、それから九尾。
ほぼ全てのパーツで、重なった層の内側にノリを仕込み、隙間をピッタリ埋めていきます。
かなり時間がかかりましたが、だいぶスッキリした形に仕上がりました。

Next, shaping.
I used glue thoroughly because the layers tend to peel off.
Legs, head, body, and nine tails.
I inserted glue inside layers and closed the gaps, in almost all parts.
I spent a lot of time, so the whole shape became pretty neat.

最後に、自立。
ボリュームのある９本の尾に対して手足が細いので、しっかり立たせるのに苦労しました。
紙を浮かせた方が強度が出たのですが、時すでに遅し。それに気づいたのは、折り目を接着してからでした。

Finally, standing.
Legs are thin compared to tails, so it's hard to stand alone.
It can keep durability if paper layers aren't glued, but I noticed that after gluing.

結果的にずいぶん「華奢」になってしまったキツネくん。
シッポに入れたノリの重さも災いして、絶妙なバランスで立たせないとすぐ「捻挫」します。手厚い自立支援が必要です。歩行器を持ってきてくれ。

As a result, he became pretty skinny.
Because of its heavy tails, he sprains immediately unless I set in the proper posture.
He needs "independence support".

写真は何とか撮れたものの、展示に耐えうる強度はないかなぁ…
次はパーツごとの厚みや強度をしっかり把握して、全体のバランスを考えながら作りたいと思います。

I could barely take photos, but it may not be suitable for exhibition.
Next time I'll make it while grasping thickness & durability of each part and considering the overall balance.

川畑文昭さんの「九尾の狐」でございました。
色々苦労はしたものの、一応満足のいく仕上がりになってよかったです。

How was "Nine-Tailed Fox (Chinese Fox Spirit)" designed by Fumiaki Kawahata?
Though I had a few trouble, I'm relieved that the completed form was fine.

この作品は完成後の整形が難しいので、薄くてクセの付きやすいホイル紙がいいかもしれませんね。
うねるような九尾と、神秘的な輝きをもつ瑞獣。
そんな完成形を勝手に想像して、次に繋げたいと思います。
This model is difficult to shape after completion, I think foil paper which is thin & inelastic will be suitable.
A spirit with undulating tails and mysterious brightness.
I want to challenge next time, imaging that appearance.
