Ｔさんの、片手で作る佐藤ローズ。／"Simple rose" made with only one hand

定期講座レポ・第３弾。
今日ご紹介するのは、Ｔさんの「シンプルローズ」です。
The third report of my regular Origami class.
Today I introduce "Simple rose" made by T.
(Here I call him T because of his anonymity)

なんとこれ、ほぼ左手だけで作ったんです！
定年退職後に脳梗塞で倒れ、右半身が動かなくなってしまったＴさん。
今でも右手は「つかむ程度」しかできないらしいのですが…
片手とは思えないクオリティです。
こんな芸当、私には到底できません。

Surprisingly, he made this with just his left hand!
He had a stroke 、after job retirement. and was paralyzed his right side.
Even now he says that his right hand can only grab things, it's a wonderful quality that we can't image it was made with one hand.
I can never do such a performance.

また、この日はもう一つ、ステキな作品を見せてくれました。
折り鶴を44個並べた「菊の花」です。

羽を一つ一つカールさせて、やわらかな花びらが表現されています。

葉っぱと額縁も、いい感じに大輪を引き立たせていますね。
製作期間は1-2週間。さすがの根気です。
バラと並んで、こちらもメンバーの皆さんに大好評でした。

In addition, he showed us another works.
"Chrysanthemum" that is made of 44 paper cranes.

Each wing is curled one by one, which expresses soft petals.
Two leaves and frame also highlight the large flower nicely.
He made it over a week or two, I admire his patience.
Everyone in the class loved it just like Simple rose.

「手足のリハビリのつもりで…」と、私の講座にいらしたのは、2年半ほど前のこと。
はじめは簡単な作品から。
やがて布施知子さんの「くす玉系」にハマり、今やすっかり上級者になりました。
"I want to rehabilitate my limbs."
Saying so, he came my class about two and a harf years ago.
We started with beginner-friendly works.
Then he was addicted to "Kusudama (ornamental ball)" designed by Tomoko FUSE. And now, he became an advanced player.

通っているデイサービスでは、メンバーのみんなに折り紙を教えることもあるんだとか。
謙虚で温厚な、Ｔさんのお人柄もあるのでしょう。

He said that he often teaches Origami to members of day care facility.
I think his humility and gentleness may help that.

何回も何回も挑戦して、自分のペースで着実に作り上げていくＴさんのひたむきな姿勢は、他のメンバーの励みになっています。

もちろん、私も。

His sincere attitude of challenging again and again, making steadily with his own pace, always encourages other members.
Of course, so am I.

「みんなは両手が使えるから良いじゃないか」
なんて笑って言うもんだから、私たちも負けていられません。
いくつになっても、好奇心をもって挑戦を続けていきたいものですね。

"It's enviable that you all can use both hands."
He laughs and says so, we also have to do our best.
No matter how old I am, I'd like to continue to challenge with curiosity.

川崎ローズと柿星人。／KAWASAKI ROSE & Persimmon Alien

前回に続き、川崎ローズのおはなし。
ちなちゃんが「4連の川崎ローズ」を作っている間に、実は隣で普通の川崎ローズが作られていました。

Continuing from the previous article, I'll talk about "KAWASAKI ROSE".
While Chinatsu-chan was challenging "Four connected roses", a normal KAWASAKI ROSE was made at the same time.

作ってくれたのは、みはるちゃん（小学2年生）。
黒地に桜模様が浮かんで、とってもオシャレですね。

Miharu-chan (2th grade of elementary school student) made it.
It's so fashionable with sakura pattern on a black background.

立体的なシーンは私が少しお手伝いしましたが、あとは自力でサクサク進めることができました。
私が初めて川崎ローズを折ったのは小5の頃。
彼女がこのまま折り紙を続けたら、私なんてすぐに追い越してしまうのでしょう。
（そしたら弟子入りしようっと。）

I supported her a little in the three-dimensional step, but she finished it almost herself.

I've made KAWASAKI ROSE when I was 5th grade of elementary school student.
If she continues Origami, she will overtake me easily.
(If that happens, I'll apprentice her and be a disciple.)

この日、みはるちゃんは新しい作品も作ってくれました。
「柿星人」だそうです。

On this day, she made another work.
She maned it "Persimmon Alien".

ロケットに乗って飛んでいく姿を再現してくれました。
首は容易に取れて、おしりに付け替えることができるんだそう…

The head can be removed, and attached it to his butt...

バラと一緒に、大切にカバンに入れて持ち帰っていました。
家族が増えてよかったね。

She happily took him home with her rose.

I'm glad he join her family.

みはるちゃんの独特のセンスは、いつもサークルのみんなを和ませてくれます。
Her unique sensibility always makes us cheerful feelings.

ちなちゃんの「４連川崎ローズ」／Chinatsu-chan's "Four connected roses"

今日は久しぶりに、定期講座の様子をお届け。
換気やアルコール消毒などは欠かせませんが、できる限りの対策をしながら細々と開催しています。
遠方からいらっしゃる方は中々参加できず残念ですが、早く気軽に来れるご時世になるといいですね。

I'll introduce the state of my regular Origami class after a long absence.
Room ventilation and alcohol disinfection are necessary, but we've been having our class on a small scale, while taking all possible measures against COVID-19.
Members who live far away is still hesitant to come the class, so I hope that the day will come when they can join without any worries.

この日は、ちなちゃん（中1）が川崎ローズを作ってくれました。

ずいぶん小さいと思ったら…なんと、4つ繋がっています！
1つ作るだけでも、初心者なら挫折するこの作品。
7.5cm×7.5cm＋4連結という「小さな大技」は、誰よりも川崎ローズを折ってきた彼女だからこそできる芸当でしょう。

On this day, Chinatsu-chan (1st grade of junior high school student) made "KAWASAKI ROSE".
I found it too small... Amazingly, four roses are connected each other!!
Beginners usually give up even if making one.
Only she can achieve this performance of 7.5cm×7.5cm size and four connections, because she has practiced KAWASAKI ROSE more than anyone else.

実はこの「4連ローズ」、ちなちゃんは2年前にもチャレンジしていました。

Actually, she challenged "Four connected roses" two years ago.

当時は1個ちぎれて「3連」になってしまい、とても悔しい思いをしていましたが…
2年越しの挑戦で、ようやく成功させることができました。継続は力なりですね。

Unfortunately at that time, one rose happened to tear off, so it became "three connected roses".
She was really disappointed, but she finally succeeded for the first time spending two years!
We learned from her that continuation is power.

小学5年生の頃から講座に来てくれている彼女も、今年から中学生。

やりたい事、やらなきゃいけない事、色々あるかも知れませんが、こうして折り紙を楽しんでくれて嬉しいです。

Chinatsu-chan has been in my class since she was 5th grade of elementary school student, now she is already a junior high school student.
She may have a lot of things that she wants to do and has to do.
However, I'm happy she enjoys Origami like this.

【折り紙講座レポ】横浜能楽堂 伝統文化一日体験オープンデー／Event Report at Yokohama Noh Theater

横浜能楽堂で開催された「伝統文化一日体験オープンデー」にて、折り紙講座をやらせていただきました。

I held an ORIGAMI workshop as the part of the event at Yokohama Noh Theater.

予約制＋少人数、30分区切り。
手指のアルコール消毒、机・イスの除菌など、できる限りのコロナ対策を行っての開催となりました。
関係者の皆様、お疲れ様でした。

参加された方々、ご協力ありがとうございました。

The event required reservation, and lasted only 30 minutes each time, with a limited number of participants.
Alcohol disinfection of fingers, sterilization of desks & chairs... We took all possible measures to hold the event.
I'd like to express my sincere gratitude to all the devoted staff, and cooperative participants.

今日は、そんな中で次々と生まれた、ユニークな作品たちをご紹介。

Today, I introduce some unique works created by participants at the event.

■いぬ・ねこ・チューリップ。
お子さんの絵心には、いつも癒されます。かわいいおめめ。

■Dog, Cat, Tulip
Kids' drawings always heal us.
Cute eyes, I like them!

■シャツとカブトを折っていると思ったら…
いつの間にか、鳥山明テイストになっていて驚きました。
講師やってて初めてです、こんなの。

■I thought he was making a Samurai Helmet.
However, when I realized, it had changed DRAGONBALL-like.
I've never seen anything like that since I started my workshop...

■定期講座のメンバーの方が、お孫さんと一緒に参加してくれました。
遠方より、ありがとうございました。

■One of my ORIGAMI class members attended with her grandson.
Thank you for coming from afar.

■完成作品と一緒に集合写真。
目標だった「たからぶね」、完成できてよかったね。、
タケルくんのサポート、さすがです。

I'm glad that he could complete "Takarabune(Treasure Ship)" that was his goal from before.
Thanks to our reliable assistant, Takeru.

■伝承作品「折り鶴」も人気でした。

「はばたくつる」も好評で、あっちでパタパタ、こっちでパタパタ。
動かして遊べる作品って、やはり良いですよね。

■Traditional "Orizuru(Paper Crane)" was popular, and "Habataku Tsuru(Flapping Paper Crane)" was also. They were flapping around the classroom!
Origami works that is not only displayed but also played are always good.

定期講座のメンバー・タケル君は、アシスタントとして参加してくれたばかりか、参加賞として大量のコマを作ってきてくれました。、
持参したデモ作品も大好評。
お父様・お母様も、ありがとうございました。

Takeru, who is my origami class member attended this workshop as our assistant, and he brought many Origami Spinning Tops as gifts for participants.
The exhibits works that he brought were also great, they fascinated everyone.
I appreciate his parents, too.

準備から片付けまでお手伝いいただたユースサポーターの皆さんにも、感謝しきりです。
さすがのコミュニケーションとフットワークで、講座を盛り上げてくれました。

I also appreciate the Youth Supporters, they always cooperated with us from preparation to tidying-up.
Their experienced and sophisticated hospitality and footwork made this workshop success!

久しぶりに外で講座をやらせていただき、とても嬉しかったです。
充実した一日を過ごすことができました。

I held workshop outside after a long time, it was so much fun and I had a fulfilling day.

やる事が単調になりがちな「おうち時間」に、少しでも潤いをもたらすことができたら嬉しいです。

Spending time at home tend to be monotonous, I'd be happy if I could make their time enjoyable.

バラといえば赤色のイメージですが、青いバラも良いですよね。

I made "Hybrid tea rose" with Vivaldi "ROYAL BLUE".
We often imagine roses as red, but blue one is also good, isn't it?

佐藤直幹さんの考案する「佐藤ローズ」は、どんな色でも相性抜群です。

「かわいすぎる野鳥」として人気爆発中のシマエナガちゃんを折りました！

I made "Long-tailed Tit" that is exploding popularity as "Too cute wild bird"!

きっかけは、友人からのリクエスト。
彼女が近々遠方に引っ越すとのことで、一緒に食事をした際にプレゼントしました。

I made it at the request of my friend.
She will recently move far away, so I presented it to her when we had lunch together.

紙の裏表を上手に使ったデザインと、コロンとした佇まい。
一目でそれとわかるけれど、リアル過ぎず、折り紙らしさも残る素敵な作品です。

The design makes good use of the front and back side of paper, and it has rounded, cute appearance.
We can easily see what this is, but it keeps ORIGAMI-like shape. Don't you think it's extraordinary nice!?

最後におなかをポコッと膨らませる瞬間が、また良いんですよね。
ノリを一切使わずに、しっかり形が決まるのも嬉しいポイントです。

I like the last moment inflating the chest.
It's also a pleasant point that whole shape is fixed firmly, with no glue.

工程14。
この時点で、既にかわいい。

Step 14
Even at this stage, it's already cute.

羽の先端を内側に折り込む工程49-51は、初心者の方にはちょっと難しいかも。
ここを乗り切るキモは、工程46でしっかり折り筋をつける事かと思います。
うまくいけば、スルリと内側におさまってくれますよ。

Step 49-51, where the wing put inside, will be little difficult for beginners.
To get over this step, you had better make a crease firmly on step 46.
If you can make it well, the wing will be stored easily.

まだ数をこなしていないので、今後さらに綺麗に作れるようになりたいものです。

慣れれば量産できそうなので、たくさん並べるのも楽しそうですね。

I haven't practiced many times, I want to be able to make it more beautifully in the future.
It seems that I can make a lot if I get used to it. It'll be fun when they are arrayed a lot!

今回使ったサイズは15cm×15cm。

ご覧のとおり、けっこう小さくなります。
不安な方は、大きめのサイズで折るのがオススメです。

I used 15cm×15cm square paper.
As you can see, it becomes pretty small.
If you're worried, I recommend a large size.

吉祥寺発祥の、Made in Japanにこだわるメーカーさんです。
ケースやストラップ、金具を自在にカスタムできるので、私はクロノグラフをモノトーンでまとめました。
白黒のシマエナガちゃんにピッタリですね。

Attached next to the birds is my favorite watch "Knot".
They are originated in Kichijoji JAPAN, and stick to Made-in-Japan.
We can choose the case, strap and buckle, so I chose a chronograph with monotone color.
It goes well with the black and white birds.

折り紙は完成させるだけでなく、撮影も楽しみのひとつです。
特別な道具ではなく、身の回りのものを組み合わせるだけでも、作品の雰囲気がガラリと変わります。

Origami often entertain us not only making but also taking photos.
The atmosphere of the work will change dramatically just by combining the things around you. You don't need any special tools.

【月刊おりがみ】ローズ・ブーケPart3／Rose Bouquet・Part3

月刊おりがみ543号（2020年11月号）、横山文恵さんの「ローズ・ブーケ」。
前々回・前回に引き続き、3個目のチャレンジです。

"Rose Bouquet" designed by Fumie YOKOYAMA in Monthly ORIGAMI magazine No.543(Nov.2020).
Now, I took the third challenge, following the past two times.

使った素材はキャンドゥの「Space」。
カラフルな宇宙の絵柄のうち、紫単色を選びました。

I used the material "Space" from Can Do Store. I choose single purple color from the colorful space patterns.

白・薄紫・紫のカラーと、散りばめられた星の模様が神秘的です。
紙の裏面である白色も、良いアクセントになっています。

The color of white, light purple and purple, and  studded star pattern makes it mysterious!
The white color on the back side of the paper becomes a nice accent, it's also good.

さて、作ったことのある方なら分かると思いますが、ローズ・ブーケの花びらは、
①5つのパーツが繋がる箇所
②三角錐を包む箇所
この2種類に分かれています。
今回はちょっと仕上げ方を変えてみました。

As people who has made this model can understand, the petals of "Rose Bouquet" can be classified into the two types below.
①The area where the five peaces are connected
②The area surrounding a trianglar pyramidt
Today, I changed the finishing method a little.

■1回目（2020/10/15）
①②どちらもカールさせず、花びらをめくったままの状態。
花びらが少々カクカクしています。

■First challenge（2020/10/15）
After opening petals, I didn't do any action to ①②, and I kept as it is.
You can see the petals are not curled gently.

■2回目（2020/10/19）
①②どちらもカールさせて、丸みを強調させました。

■Second challenge（2020/10/19）
I curled both ① and ②, and emphasized the roundness.

■3回目（今回）
①のみカールさせています。
②は開き過ぎずに、「つぼみ」をイメージして仕上げています。

■Third challenge（Today）
I curled only ①, and kept ② not to open too much. I finished ② with the image of rose buds.

これは、とある方からアドバイスをいただき実践したもの。
2回目の時よりも奥ゆかしさが出て、これまたいい感じです。
仕上げ方を変えることで作品の印象が変わる、という良い例を体験させてもらいました。

I got this idea from a certain person.
It expresses more modest atmosphere than my second challenge, I like that!
I experienced that changing how to finish changes an impression of finished work.
